Historical

Islamic Arts Museum

If you are visiting Tasik Perdana or Lake Gardens, drop by the Islamic Arts Museum where many other key attractions such as the Bird Park, the Butterfly Farm, National Planetarium, Police Museum, Hibiscus and Orchid Gardens are located. This museum was opened in December 1998 and is the largest Islamic art exhibit in South East Asia.
There are 12 galleries with over 7,000 artefacts on display besides the books that are available for you to see at the library in this building. The themed galleries have display of Islamic manuscripts, arms and armour, textiles and coins, ceramics, glassware and metalwork. Besides exhibiting the works from the Middle East region, other artefacts from China, India, Asia and other South East Asian nations are also shown here.

Malaysia National Museum

The National Museum is located within walking distance from KL Sentral. If you are in Lake Garden, you will be able to see the museum as it has a distinctive Minangkabau-styled roof. Walking from Lake Garden will take you approximately 20 minutes to reach the museum. The museum contains vast artifacts and exhibits that trace the history of the nation of Malaysia.
This building was officially opened in August 31, 1963 by His Majesty the Third Yang diPertuan Agong of Malaysia. It has a Minangkabau-styled roof and two front murals. The murals of Italian glass mosaic highlights the significant events and crafts of Malaysia. There are 4 main galleries namely Early History, The Malay Kingdoms, The Colonial Era and Malaysia Today.


The opening hour to visit the National Museum is from 9:00am to 6:00pm daily. It is closed on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidil Adha.
For locals, the entrance fee is RM2 for adult. Children below 12 years old do not have to pay. Free entrance is also given to children in school uniforms.
For foreigners, the entrance fee is RM5 for adult and RM2 for children 6-12 years old.

The museum is located in Jalan Padang Tembak, Kuala Lumpur. Head forKem Kementah as the museum is located at this camp. Taking a taxi to this place is the most convenient mode of transport. As this place is an army camp, you will have to take a pass before you are allowed to enter the premises of the camp.

If you are driving, take note that you can ask permission from the personnel at the museum to allow you to park your car at the compound of the museum. Otherwise, you will have to park quite a distant away from the museum as there are not many parking bays available.

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park is located at Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya approximately 30-40 minutes drive away from Kuala Lumpur. Itis one of Malaysia's premier theme park and you will be able to spend the entire day here as there are many attractions that are featured here. This lagoon with an area of 80 acres has many themed sections. The Waters Of Africa has many thrilling and exciting water slides that reminds you of unspoilt and wild continent of Africa. The Wild Wild West brings you back to the old American days of cowboys and Butch Cassidy.
There is also the suspension bridge that you can walk with a length of 428m that give you a breathtaking view of the entire lagoon.

The adult entrance fees ranges from RM45 to RM65 depending on which package you choose. Online booking will be cheaper. Opening hours is from 11am - 6pm (Mondays to Fridays), 10am - 6pm (weekends, public holidays, school holidays). The park is closed on Tuesdays.

This place was built at a cost of RM6 million and was opened in December 2003. It is reputed to be one of the best managed hot spring in Malaysia and is located 200 feet above the sea level at the foothill of the Titiwangsa Range, the backbone range of Peninsular Malaysia. Once you arrive here, you will be amazed by the lush greeneries, hills, streams and rivers that abounds in the vicinity.

The hot spring is one of the other alternative to modern day spa centres. Spas have become one of the attractions in many hotels and resorts in this region. Many believed that the natural springs have healing properties that will help toheal and detoxify toxic from your body. Those with stiff muscles, stiff joints, rheumatism, spinal injuries, insomnia andskin related problems should consider soaking themselves here.

Board Walk

The natural hot springs board walk will lead you to the heat source of the water that comes bubbling out from the ground.Here, at the platform that is built over the springs, you will be able to experience the radiated heat from the water. Thetemperature range from 60 °C to 101 °C. Clouds of steam that surround the greeneries is a good sight to see especiallyduring the night when the spot lights are activated.

Sungai Tekala Recreational Forest which is located about 14km away from the town of Semenyih in the district of Hulu Langat, Selangor. The distance from Kuala Lumpur is approximately 50km. This recreation park was established in 1982 for the public to enjoy the beauty of the tropical rainforest in Selangor.

The waterfalls here are easily accessible with plenty of parking bays. Concrete steps have been built to enable you to climb up to the cascading waterfalls which is usually crowded especially during the weekends. This place is an ideal get-away for the entire family as you will be able to reach the waterfalls within 10 minutes of walking from the entrance.

Templer Park

Templer Park is located just after Kanching Recreational Forest if you are travelling from Rawang towards Kuala Lumpur trunk road. This park is another alternative for a time of recreation for the locals especially during the weekends.

It has an area of about 1200 hectares and is about 7km away from the town of Rawang. This park was named after Sir Gerald Templer who was the British High Commissioner to Malaya in the 1950s.

This forest is located between Rawang and Selayang. If you are coming from 1 Utama Shopping Centre, use the LDP and head towards Selayang and after that Rawang. Look out for the U-turn signage to Taman Rimba Templer before you reach Rawang.

Once you have U turned, drive slowly and look out for the entrance to the park on the left hand side of the road.

If you are going to Cameron Highlands, plan to use the Tapah way instead of Simpang Pulai way and you will be able to stop by and enjoy this huge waterfalls which is about 20km before the town of Ringlet. This waterfalls is easily accessible to the public as it is located just by the side of the road.

You will not miss it as there are many stalls set-up by the road side that sell handicrafts work, drinks, snacks and other produce from this area.

Head for the North-South Expressway and travel towards Tapah. Exit at Tapah toll and turn left at the first traffic light after paying your toll. If you would like to take your meal or purchase some snacks, you need to turn right towards Tapah town.

Travel along the road that goes to Cameron Highlands and you will not miss this place.

History of Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands is a well developed hill resort which is located in the state of Pahang in Peninsular malaysia. It was named after a British surveyor, William Cameron who discovered it in 1885 during a mapping expedition. Since 1920, the hill has undergone various development that makes what it is today - an excellent place for tourists to spend their holidays.

Its temperature ranges from 10 °C to 25 °C hence a favourite place for one to escape the heat of the cities. One can easily take a slow drive up or down the highland depending on which route one takes and stop by the many strawberry farms, vegetable gardens, cactus gardens, bee farms and rose gardens. Buy some of the products that are sold as you visit the farms.

Its attraction include the neatly planted tea plantations where one can go and see how the tea leaves are plucked and processed. The beautiful view overlooking the plantation is excellent for a picture album. The major ones that one can visit are the BHARAT tea plantation, BOH tea plantation and Blue Valley tea plantation.

Genting Highlands


Genting Highlands is located at an altitude of 1,800 metres above sea level and is one of the most developed hill holiday resorts in Malaysia. Its temperature ranges from 15 °C to 24 °C throughout the year and is a place for one to escape the heat of the cities. This place is a popular destination for local as well as foreign visitors.

It takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to drive up the hill from the city of Kuala Lumpur, a distance of 51km. Genting highland also called the City Of Entertainment and rightly so as you will be able to enjoy the various attractions and modern facilities on this hill resorts.

Fraser's Hill Resort

Fraser's Hill resort is one of the least developed hill resort compared to Cameron Highlands or Genting Highlands. As such, this resort which is located at an altitude of 1,524 metres above sea level is an ideal place for one who just want to enjoy the undisturbed nature in a cool 
environment. Activities that you can do here include bird-watching, camping, horse-riding, jungle trekking, fishing, golfing as well as discovering the many flora and fauna that abounds in this hill.

This hill was founded by Louis James Fraser, a Scottish trader who established tin ore trading station at the end of 1900.He used to use mule to transport the goods. However, he mysteriously disappeared in the jungle of Fraser's Hill without a trace in the early 1900s. In 1919, the hill was developed into a hill station for those who want to escape the heat and humid weather at the lowlands of Malaysia.

The bungalows and resorts offered here are mostly Tudor styled in design, reminding us of the cottage houses that you see in Scotland or England. The temperature at this hill resort vary from 18° C to 21°C and is a perfect getaway from the heat of the city.
